Have you ever spoken on a subject that you knew a lot about, but said a false statement by accident that you later had to retract? I think we can all admit that we make mistakes and blunders, even when we perceive that we are certain. Our authority can only go so far. Our words can only carry so much weight. But consider God and the authority of His Word. God has never had to retract a single statement or apologize for a misjudgement. He is perfect, and His Word is perfect. Psalm 19:7 says, "The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is pure, making wise the simple." We have the perfect Authority in our lives. Many times in strife and difficulties, we'll try our own authority and wisdom. We've been wrong in our judgment so many times and God has always been right, but somehow, we still seem to trust ourselves. Let's remember God's Word and that this is the authority that we need to turn to in times of trouble.
