Patience! Do you have it? We get impatient for a lot of different things. Sometimes is repetition, especially when it's admonition. We get impatient when our children do the same disobedient things over and over again. Teens get impatient with their parents when they feel they are fully grown and capable of more responsibility. Yet patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:20 says, "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness." Many times we get impatient with God when He repeats different commands to us, such as: we need to love one another, to not fill our minds with the dirt of the world, to pray to Him, to meditate on His word, and to examine our hearts. But if someone was to repeat a command, not once or twice, but three times, we'd quickly take notice. God should only have to speak once, but our determination to have our own way, and His grace towards us, makes Him repeat and repeat and repeat. As we think of the patience of God, how patient are we with others who do not get things the first time? May we determine in our hearts to show the patience and longsuffering of our great Savior.
