Last week we saw the preexistence of Christ in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God." He was not a god or a lesser god. Jesus Christ is very Deity. We worship one divine Being and there exists three distinct persons in the one being of God. His perfection is His tri-personal existence. Jesus Christ is the eternal God. He was the One Thomas confessed, "My Lord and my God." He is the One Paul called, "our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus" (Titus 2:13). This is the One Isaiah prophesied of, "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). The One who would pay the ultimate penalty for our sin was none other than the very God of eternity. How this truth should encourage and strengthen our faith. My Savior is my God!!!
