| One of the things I have become more prone to see in my life, and in others through counseling, is how blind we are to sin. We often convince ourselves that we will never cross the line, or never do anything to harm those we love. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:12, "Let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall." The statement 'I can handle it' is usually an indication that we are ready to fall. This is why a dependant relationship with Christ is necessary. We must stay close to Him and other believers that He has put in our lives. These relationships help us to see through the deceptive idols and lies of the heart. Maybe this morning you've convinced yourself that you can walk the tightrope between sin and service to Christ. Don't fool yourself. Listen to the Scriptures and heed God's counsel. Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is more deceitful than all else." Recognize the deceit and flee to Christ. |
