George Mueller's life is a reminder of how we need to trust the Lord faithfully in prayer. It is easy when we see our prayers answered to trust that God is good and that He loves us, but what about when our hearts ache? When Mueller's wife became sick with rheumatic fever, he prayed, "Yes, Father, the times of my darling wife are in Thy hands. Thou wilt do the very best thing for her and for me, whether life or death. If it may be, raise up yet again my precious wife - Thou art able to do it, though she is ill; but howsoever Thou dealest with me, only help me to continue perfectly satisfied with Thy holy will." His wife died, but God yet again answered his prayer. At the funeral service, Mueller preached from the text of Psalm 119:68, "Thou art good and doest good." What a high view of God! In times of adversity and discomfort so many people relegate the events of life to blind chance or a weak, impotent God. Yet our trust is in a God who controls all and who is all good. That is the basis for trust. Ecclesiastes 7:14 says, "In the day of prosperity be happy, but in the day of adversity consider - God has made the one as well as the other."
