We Shall Rise Print E-mail

One of the great promises given to believers is found in 2 Corinthians 5:1, "For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."  We know if life plays its course out that we will all go to the grave, but that is not the end of our physical existence.  We shall rise and our bodies shall put on immortality.  This is our hope.  The reason for this abundant hope is Christ's resurrection.  We are so united to Christ that if He is risen, we must rise also.  Through the resurrection of Christ, we learn that Christ's perfect sacrifice was accepted by God and our sin is forgiven forevermore.  Christ has vanquished the penalty through His sacrifice, and now we will rise because our sin has been paid for.  In 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 the apostle rejoices, "The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."  This is the great news and should change us as we contemplate and meditate on these truths.  "Thanks be to God" This is His work and all the glory goes to Him.
