Have you ever thought how important your words are?  God gave us language as a gift that we might be able to know Him and communicate these truths to one another.  Sadly, our language has degenerated from the high purpose for which it was created.  We use our language as a means to show our greatness rather than His greatness.  Isn't it amazing that the Word of God speaks more about the sins of the tongue than alcoholism, adultery, or even stealing?  Yet, we never seem to be convicted about how we dishonour God with our gossip, slander and resentful words.  Have you ever wondered what type of Christian you are; whether you are mature or immature?  All you have to do is look at your words.  James 3:2 calls the one who can control his tongue a "perfect man."  Jesus said in Matthew 15:18, "The things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart."  Those are hard facts but ones we need if we are going to speak as God meant us to speak.  We can actually see how much God has changed our lives by looking at our words.  So the next time you are tempted to speak, ask yourself the question:  "Is this honouring to God"? Watch your words!
