Artificial Chasm Print E-mail

We often hear the expression "no man is an island unto himself." There is a spiritual principle that happens to be present in that saying. None of us can live the Christian life by ourselves. We need one another. God has ordained it that way and we all realize that. What we do though, in the church to get around that principle, is become very selective who we associate with. We create wide chasms that ought not to exist. These are further amplified, many times, by our talk of the weaknesses of other believers. Have we ever asked ourselves how God wants us to minister to those who are weaker? Paul says in Galatians 6:1,"Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted." There is a real possibility, by putting an artificial chasm between us and other believers, and not being willing to minister to them, that we will fall into the same sin. If God has blessed us with maturity then we need to minister that life giving gift to others who are struggling.
