As we go through this holiday season, get cut off in traffic, or pushed in line at the various stores, it is very easy to miss the whole purpose of Christmas. Matthew 1:23 says "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, God with us." It is so easy to get caught up with the hustle and frantic pace of our consumer minded society that we miss Christ. Jesus came, born of the virgin. He is the great God-man. We miss the significance that God came and dwelt in human flesh. The Creator of all we see was made like us, with one amazing difference: He was without sin. He left the splendor of heaven for the stink of the livestock, to live that perfect life that culminated in the cross of Calvary. Do we stop to pause in holy awe, adoration and humility that He came to live and die for sinners like us? We repeat the phrase, "Jesus is the reason for the season," yet how often do we truly reflect that He is the only reason for the season. Christmas is a time for us to fall down in wonderous worship to the God-man, Jesus Christ!
