As we start another year of serving the Lord together, people make all sorts of resolutions. The most common have to do with excercise and food. Even Christians realize that their bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and they want to be testimonies of discipline and love for Christ. Yet few ever change their patterns of behaviour in the long run. Many start with expensive exercise equipment and a real zeal, only to give up. The sad part is, this is how so many live their Christian lives. They say, "This year I want to glorify Christ by being a better spouse, a more caring parent, I want to read my Bible every day." But, the sad fact is few finish and many give up. Christ is glorified when He is no longer just a wish, a flash in the pan promise. We need to labour and endure in making Christ preeminent in our lives. Joshua challenged the people with a new beginning in Joshua 24:15, "choose for yourselves today whom you will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Let each of us serve Christ with all of our heart, soul and mind this year.
